A vigorous and productive papaya that produces a very high yield of fruit. It has a thick skin, which turns yellow-orange when ripe. Deep red fleshed fruit averaging 1.5 to 2.6 kg that is very sweet and firm. Very strong outer shell for good shipping. Fruit sets as low as 35 cm above ground. High yield producer in as little as seven months from seed. This special strain of Maradol has a 10-year commercial production success. It is grown throughout Central and South America for local and shipping markets and is the preferred fruit for import to the US Market. Red Maradol adapts well to most conditions and successfully grown in many regions with heavy Ring Spot Virus conditions. We recommend another pollinator even though this one is part hermaphrodite and part female.
